    It was reported that these Aulds were influential people in their generation. They were stouthearted and devoted to the cause of the colonies duirng the Revolution. They had comfrotable estates and cultivated minds according to "Southern Histroical Association Publication" Volume 8.

    From the Land Record Office, Annapolis, Liber Sunm C.E. No 1, folio 360: "Whereas James Auld, late of Talbot County, in the Province of Maryland, lately deceased, had in his lifetime, by his patent set forth that "Newport Gloscoe" on Deepwater Creek, in Michaels River, in Talbot County, adjoining the plantation he dwelt upon, contained the quantity of 300 acres of vacant land partly cultivated, by means of cultivation the said James Auld conceiving the same could not be taken up by Common Warrant, prayed a Special Warrant to secure it". It was granted him the 16th of April 1719.
