  • Note: Son of William Haxall and Catherine in Suffolk, England; emigrated to Petersburg, Va. in 1785 and along with his two brothers William and Henry Haxall were in the milling business in Petersburg. He and his brothers moved to Richmond in June 1809 and bought the Columbian Mills which became known as the Haxall Mills. The Haxall Mills was one of the great enterprises of Richmond and shipped immense quantities of flour to all parts of the world. His sons Richard, William and Bolling Haxall took over the business after his death.
