    in King George Co. VA Will Bk 1: 82-89 probated about 1758:
    In the above will, his Niece Ann Wren is bequeathed something.
    experts Virginia Hanks and John Howard Wren figured out that the niece is
    Ann (Loyd) Wren, wife/widow of John Wren Jr (ca 1720 - 1752)
    REASONING WHY NIECE ANN WREN IS ANN (LOYD) WREN
    BY VIRGINIA CHILDERS HANKS IN COLLABORATION WITH WREN BOOK AUTHOR JOHN H. WREN:
    Bequest to niece, Ann Wren is almost certainly Ann [Loyd] Wren because
    SAYS JOHN WREN, SON OF ANN WREN, NEEDS SCHOOLING--SO CAN'T REFER TO
    JOHN SON OF HANNAH (MRS jOHN WREN SR) BECAUSE JOHN SR OLD&DEAD BY 1757.
    in 1757 Mrs. John Wren Jr. (Ann LOYD) had been a widow about 5 years
    in 1757 her mother-in-law Mrs.John Wren Sr.(Hannah ?Turner?)was a widow 7 yrs
    Some Hannahs were called Anna/Ann but John Wren Sr's papers call her Hannah;
    ----------------------------
    But in 1757 widow of John Wren Sr. was older, her kids grown, probably had
    senior access to money and resources.

    BY VIRGINIA CHILDERS HANKS IN COLLABORATION WITH WREN BOOK AUTHOR JOHN H. WREN:
    Bequest to niece, Ann Wren is almost certainly Ann [Loyd] Wren because
    in 1757 Mrs. John Wren Jr. (Ann LOYD) had been a widow about 5 years
    in 1757 her mother-in-law Mrs.John Wren Sr.(Hannah ?Turner?)was a widow 7 yrs

    ----------------------------
    Whereas in 1757 widow of John Wren Jr. was younger, had young children, but
    probably mucch less access to resources than her mother in law (above).
    -----------------------
    The Thomas Turner writing the will had been a (Burgess) legislator for over
    20 years, so probably he was concerned with appropriate bequests for welfare;
    -----------------------
    The Thomas Turner who wrote the will had only two known sisters, and only known
    niece by that route was the above Ann (Loyd) Wren, who was probably more in
    need of a bequest than the nieces whose maiden names had been TURNER.
    No ther niece was known to have married a Mr. WREN, but of course we have a lot
    of ignorance about obscure people who lived 300 years ago;

    KEY DOCUMENT:
    20 Feb 2008 Virginia Hanks of 908 Seattle Ave, Ellensburg WA told W. Forsythe:
    after 1752 Thomas Turner of Virginia deposed in court case that
    son of my niece Ann Wren [probably Ann (Loyd) (or Lloyd) wife of John Wren Jr.]
    the above Mrs. Hanks said the Loyds/Lloyds were of Essex Co VA, but Ann by 1752
    lived in King George Co. VA because she had married John Wren Jr. ;
    MRS. HANKS THINKS EVEN IF HER MOTHER IN LAW WERE A TURNER, THAT WOULD NOT BE
    ENOUGH TO SATISFY THE FAMILY TREE REQUIRED to be in harmony with this document;

    GOOD: W.Forsythe posted the Childers sisters' compilation because those results
    were the most difficult ancestral linkages I've ever personally experienced
    someone discovering by perseverance. Most of their ancestors in the colonial
    south were so dirt poor that they never owned land; so the family linkages were
    discovered e.g. by stock brand records etc. of what ear notches meant the horse
    was owned by which poor farmer. I (Forsythe) wrote a colonial article in
    National Genealogical Society Quarterly 84 (1996): 182-199, but some of the
    Childers sisters' research is way beyond the family difficulties I ever faced;

    The best way is to write to the postal mail addresses below,as long as they are
    able to correspond (after all, they did the research!) but you are welcome to
    email the " computerizer" of this database, Mr. Forsythe--and he'll try to
    convey your message to Mrs. Kunz or Mrs. Hanks.;
