Note: Jack S. Allnutt, 79, of Greeley passed away Friday, March 16, 2007 at his residence. He was born in Greeley on November 19, 1927 to John and Katherine (Samuelson) Allnutt. He attended Cameron Elementary, Meeker Jr. High, and Greeley High, graduating in 1946. He enlisted in the US Navy, was discharged, enrolled at CSCE, transferred to and graduated from the University of Denver in 1950. He graduated from the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science in 1951 and began a life long association and ownership with Macy s, now known as Allnutt Funeral Service. Jack was the fourth generation of a 120 year family funeral service. On August 22, 1948 he married Nancy Plumb in Greeley. He is survived by his wife Nancy, one daughter Wendy and husband Nic Walsh of San Antonio, TX and two sons, Steven and wife Pat Allnutt of San Jose, CA and Mark and wife Tammy Allnutt of Greeley. He is also survived by his brother, Bill and wife Dee Allnutt of Greeley and two sisters, Nancy and husband Izzy Duran of El Paso, TX and Marjorie and husband Ron Brunner of Boulder. Grandchildren include six granddaughters, Meghan and husband Josh Strozeski of Washington, D.C., Rorey, Katlin, and Ali Walsh all of San Antonio, Amie Allnutt of San Jose, Dakotah Allnutt of Greeley and one grandson, Charlie Allnutt of San Francisco. Jack is also survived by ten nieces and nephews. Jack was a member and past director of the Greeley Chamber of Commerce, active in the Greeley Junior Chamber of Commerce where he received the Distinguished Service Award and the Widows-Savard Award in 1955. He served as National Voice of Democracy chairman which attracted the participation of 2 million high school students. The Greeley Jaycees presented him the award for outstanding service to the Greeley Soap Box Derby racing competition. He served eight years during the administration of Gov. John Love as a member and chairman of the Colorado State Merit Council. Allnutt served four years from 1974-78 on the International Board of National Selected Morticians. Allnutt was a 63 year member of the First Congregational Church where he served twice as chairman of the Trustees and twice as Church Moderator. He was a former member of the Greeley Kiwanis Club, where he served as president, as well as Lt. Governor of this Kiwanis District. Jack served two terms as president of the Greeley Knife and Fork Club and had served as a director of the Weld County Credit Bureau. His early interest in model railroading developed into train repairing and creating railroad landscapes as a hobby and small business. He was a builder of radio controlled planes, and was a member of the Love Air flying club. He was one of the four founders of the Greeley Woodcrafters Club. In 1957 he was appointed chairman for the first successful United Way drive which had failed in earlier attempts. The United Way continues as the United Way of Weld County. In 1958 he was one of 21 citizens of Greeley to write the Home Rule Charter of Greeley, which has had several revisions but continues to be the ruling authority of Greeley today. Allnutt was a former member of Occidental Lodge #20 A.F. & A.M., Colorado Consistory #1, El Jebel Shrine, Greeley Shrine Club and Greeley Elks. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Allnutt Macy Chapel. Funeral service 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Congregational Church, 2101 16th Street, with a reception to follow in the Chadwick Hall. Interment Linn Grove Cemetery.
