a. Note:   The death of Kenneth Samuel MacDonald, age 84, husband of Gertrude (Perry) MacDonald of Quispamsis, NB, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital, on Monday, May 25, 2009. Ken was born in Lower Millstream, NB, on June 3, 1924, the son of the late David and Verna (MacAuley) MacDonald.
  Ken was a veteran of World War II, serving in British Columbia, England, Italy, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Sussex Branch #20. He was a member of the Quispamsis United Church, and the Saint John Senior Citizens.
  Ken is survived by his loving and devoted wife Gertrude; son Jim MacDonald (Sharon) of Quispamsis; son-in-law Hugh Doherty; eight grandchildren Sarah and Scott MacDonald, Hughanna Dunfield (Ron), Christopher Doherty (Jane) , Patrick Doherty (Tamara) , Daniel Doherty (Sarah) , Jason MacDonald, Jarl MacDonald (Krista); ten great grandchildren Owen, Cayden, Maddie, Jessica, Justin, Jacob, Kassandra, Ben, Noah and Jonah; brothers Roy MacDonald (Bea) of Sussex, George MacDonald (Leona ) of Sussex; sisters Ruby Morrison (Dave) of Quispamsis, Alice Chambers of Dartmouth, NS; sister-in-law Enid MacDonald of Searsville; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son Allan; daughter June Doherty; brother Ronald; sisters Flora Armstrong and Verna Patterson.
  He is resting at Sherwood´s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB, with visiting on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held from Sherwood´s Chapel, Norton, NB, at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, May 28, 2009. Interment will follow in Codys Baptist Cemetery, Codys, NB
