a. Note:   This is a possible birth date according to Family Search film # 2034635
 It is noted in the Bureau of Land Management that John W. Buchanan of Huron County, Ohio bought 80 acres of land on March 5, 1839. The transaction took place in Munroe, MI and his land was in Fayette Township, Hillsdale County, MI (t6sr3ws22). Two of John's brothers bought land at the same location on the same day. There is also a record of a John Buchanan buying 120 acres on Oct 14, 1835 and 160 more the following day.The IGI source says that John died May 2, 1836. Another source says that his brothers helped his widow and children settle John's land in Michigan. The question then arises about the 1839 purchase. Needs more research.
