Note: MacDONALD, John Andrew - October 4, 1944 - May 4, 2004 (Uncle Non) After a hard fought battle with a formidable foe, John MacDonald passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 4, 2004 at the Hamilton General Hospital. Beloved husband to Mary-Kate; predeceased by his first wife Pamela (nee Vickers), devoted son to Thora and the late John MacDonald; loving brother to Jim and his wife Sheena; adored uncle of Aries and her husband Jason, Erin and her husband Todd; doting great-uncle to little Molly. It is with sadness and tears that we say farewell to a man who was loved by many; a man who jiggled when he laughed; had a very dignified moustache; had something to add to every conversation, possessed a deep faith and expressed his love in lots of little ways. Those who knew John were aware of his deep love of animals and especially of fish. This passion was evident in the love and care he showed his dog, Zack, his cats Caesar and Augustus and his many aquariums full of fish and turtles. Many hours were spent fishing at his brother Jim's side, memories which will be treasured for a lifetime. "Many go fishing all their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after." John was a private person and wished no ceremony upon his death. At his request there was a private cremation and interment. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Hamilton S.P.C.A. and would be appreciated by the family. A special heartfelt thank you to the staff of 6-South at the Hamilton General Hospital for their care and compassion. Our grieving will be eased as we picture you now sitting at the end of a dock, your father at your side, fishing lines in the water, awaiting the next big catch.
