Note: In the 1881 census, Edwin was living at 74 Nelson Street in Liverpool. At that time he was a cabinet maker. The census states that he was born Mirfield, York. Robert Stinson's research shows that he was born in Battye Mill, Kirkheaton, West Yorkshire. In the 1851 census, Edwin was living in Mirfield with his widowed mother and two of his brothers, George, a clerk attorney and Tom, a clerk. Edwin was listed as a cabinet maker at this time also. In 1851 Mirfield was a village of 6000 and heavily involved in the manufacture of clothing. Robin Hood is reputedly buried there.
Searched 1861 census but the family is believed to have been living in USA at that time.
