Note: Mary was born at 9:10 a.m. at 6 Prison Quarters, Porterfield, Inverness where her dad was a prison warder. Mary hooked a beautiful rug and, in 1942, won first prize in the Montreal Tercentenary Commission competiton. She was listed as living in Belleisle Creek, NB at that time and one of the judges was Mrs. Gerald Birks who had employed both Mary, her sister Helen and her brother David. In 1948 and 1949 Mary is listed in Lovell's Directory as rooming with the Allnutts at 442 St. Germain, Saint-Laurent, QC. In the 1949 entry she is working as a clerk at Eaton's. Mary joined Hewitt's about 1957 when it was located in Montreal. She moved out to Pointe-Claire when the company opened a new building in that city in 1961. She worked until August 1, 1980 in Accounts Receivable. At first Mary walked to work from her apartment on Vanguard across what was soon to be the Trans Canada Highway.
