Notes
a. Note:   Her will of 1820, obviously drawn up without legal aid, leaves her property to her brother Zachary, and legacies to her sisters Ann and Martha and to 'her poor Aunt Argles'. She required her father to pay her funeral expenses as she considered she had been a faithful servant to him for many years with pay not sufficient for her station. I Catharine Allnutt of the parish of Great Marlow in the County of Bucks, being in ill health of body but of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding do make my will as follows: that is to say, I give to my dear brother Zachary, now of Henley upon Thames, the whole of my shares right and claim which is one third of those three cottages, gardens and premises thereto belonging, given by Hill to me by my dear friend Mary Stevens lately deceased, situated at Bovendown Green and now in the several occupations of Mary May, Thomas Frith and James Wheeler to hold to him the said Zachary Allnutt his heirs and assigns forever but if it is not in my power to bequeath the said share but at my decease it is to go to my dear sisters Ann and Martha in that case I do not give to my dear sister Ann the twenty pounds hereafter mentioned. I also give and bequeath to my dear brother Zachary the hundred pounds Navigation Bond left to me by my dear friend Mary Stevens and in my father's possession and it is my will that my dear brother pay twenty pounds to my poor Aunt Argles and twenty pounds to Misses Fields, that is ten pounds to Ann Field and ten to Sarah Field, my two dear and kind friends in my long and painful illness and it is my will if my dear brother Zachary has my share of the cottages aforesaid, that he pay to my dear sister Ann the sum of twenty pounds on his taking possession of such share and I give and bequeath to my dear sister Ann all my wearing apparel, poultry s??tihes, the few books and goods that I had of Miss Steven's and I nominate and appoint my said brother Zachary sole executor of this my will not willing to give my dear and aged father any trouble herein and well knowing that he has such a co?rupetemy as not to require any share of my small property aforesaid and hoping he will not grudge my funeral expenses as it is the last I shall be at to him and as I consider that I have been a faithful servant to him for many years with pay not sufficient for necessaries in my station. May (he) live many years to enjoy his property. My topaz pin and best earrings I bequeath to my sister Zachary Allnutt of Henley or Charlotte the wife of my brother. To this my will contained in one sheet of paper and wrote in my own hand and in witness whereof I hereto set my hand and seal this second day of July 1819. Catharine Allnutt. Signed in the presence of Sarah Puddifum, Ann Bond, Mary Gibbons. Proved at London 25th October 1820 before the Worshipful Charles Cook, Doctor of Laws @ Su by the oath of Zachary Allnutt the brother the sole executor to whom admon was granted having been first sworn duly to administer.
