a. Note:   Ray remembers that his Granny always had a dog. Once when his grandparents went away for a week, Ray, Glen and Jean looked after the dog and enjoyed it very much.
 Once Granny took Ray and his cousin Jim to the movies and and gave them each one pound of peanuts! Needless to say Ray felt very sick afterwards.
 Emma had a pump organ and Ray remembers oil lamps at the farm on the Lakeshore.
 She had high blood pressure and died of a stroke. The family gave the wrong birthdate for the death certificate: In the 1870 census Emma is shown as a 3 year old not a 18 month old toddler.
 When Ray and Doris were looking for a place to live after World War Two, they were able to buy a house that used to belong to his Granny and Pawky. Ray rebuilt it by putting in a basement and adding rooms on the back of the house on both floors. As I write this in 2002, Ray and Doris are still living in 78 Beech Street.
