Note: Annie is living in Petty, Nairnshire in 1901. Her husband James is a ploughman. Their daughter Mary is away from home, their sons David, Alex and James are in school and their son John is 2 years old. Article from the Kings Co Record dated Dec 31, 1945 under the heading Irish Settlement: A sorrowful shock came to this village this week with the news that Mrs. Annie MacDonald, mother of Mrs. Thomas Thomson, had passed away a few days after an operation in St. Joseph's Hospital, Saint John. The funeral took place Friday afternoon. A large number of relatives and friends attended the house service here and at Belleisle, where Mrs. MacDonald was buried in the United Church cemetery. Mrs. MacDonald will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She had suffered for long, making few complaints and smiling a kind welcome to her visitors. A Scottish Highlander, she had the qualities of her race at its best, being quietly friendly, shrewd and observant, religious and God-fearing. Deep sympathy is felt for her daughter and her four sons in their loss of a good and devoted mother. Another excerpt from a newspaper about Annie's death: She was the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David MacKenzie. Her husband James MacDonald died in Scotland in 1912. She came to New Brunswick with her four sons in 1913 and has resided in the vicinity of Belleisle Creek. Mrs. MacDonald is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Thomas Thomson, Belleisle Creek, with whom she lived in her later years, and four sons, David and Alexander, Lower Millstream; James and John, Oshawa, Ont.; twenty-four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. One sister and three brothers also survive in Scotland. The funeral was held from the home of Mrs. T. Thomson and a service was also held in the United Church at Belleisle. Rev. R.W.Anglin officiated. Hymns sung were: O God Our Help in Ages Past, The Lord is My Shepherd, O God of Bethel; Mrs. Ernest Howe sang the hymn Face to Face, and the minister read Mrs. MacDonald's favourite passage of scripture, Isaiah 55. The pallbearers were four of her grandsons, Ian and James Thomson, Roy and Ronald MacDonald. Interment took place in the Union cemetery, Belleisle Creek. The floral tributes included the following: Pillow: Family; Wreaths: Grandchildren, O'Neill Family; Mr. and Mrs. E. Howe, Mr. and Mrs. R. Price, Mr. and Mrs. S.A. MacAuley and daughter Ruby, Employees of General Motors-Oshawa; Basket: Helen, Bert and Mary, Montreal; Roses: Fraser Family, Saint John.
