  The Davidsons, family of Margaret Davidson, were joiners or furniture makers for several generations in Maxton and are recorded there before the first Thomsons arrived about 1650. Margaret's father was Walter Davidson. He married Elizabeth Dunn in Makerstoun December 11, 1812. They both died in 1841.
  Quote from Sarah Thomson's letter 19 May 1940 to her brother and sister-in-law Thomas and Mary Thomson, parents of Helen. "Christening robe sent to Mary. In the Davidson-Thomson family for 100 years. Mary to hang onto it and send it around for christenings. Belonged to Grand Aunt Susan Davidson (sister of Margaret Davidson Thomson who was Sarah's, Thomas' and Robert's grandmother). Walter Davidson christened in it. Connie would have had her two christened in it but mother-in-law had bought one and would have been hurt." In 2008 the dress is in the possession of David and Maja-Lisa Thomson. It is a very small dress so few if any Thomson babies have been christened in it since it was sent to Canada in 1940.
