Note: When Robert Davidson made his will in 1899 he left everything to his niece Elizabeth under certain conditions: "I direct my trustees as soon as may be convenient after my death to deliver, pay and convey over to the said Elizabeth Thomson in the event of her surviving me and being at the time of my death in my service my whole means and estate of whatever kind, heritable and moveable, above conveyed, and that as her own absolute property." He died in 1899. The inventory taken after his death shows that he left an estate valued at 273 pounds made up mainly of stock in the Royal Bank of Scotland.
