a. Note:   Family Search site reported the marriage of John M. Buchanan and Lucy B. Rice in Ohio - Film #1903914.
 In the 1840 census in Seneca Co., Ohio a Lory B. Buchanan with small children matching the ages of Lucy's was living near a William Rice where there is a woman also living whose age matches William's and Lucy's mother.
 After searching through all the 1870 MI census records for Lucy, I am guessing that the "Matilda" listed with William and his family is likely Lucy.
 In the 1880 census Lucy, still a widow, is boarding with Hannah A. Sabins on Colleys St in the 1st ward of Hillsdale. She has "no occupation" and it says that she was born in New York, her father in Vermont and her mother in New York. The image is found on page 119B
