Note: Herman Ralph Falkman
Herman was born in Dubois, Pa. DeBois is in Clearfield county. September 9th 1893. He moved to Chicago with his parents when he was very young . He was the oldest of five children. He attended Emerson Grammar School, Spencer Grammar School, Austin High School. After high school he planned on working. High school year book named him "Romeo". After high school he met and married my grandmother (Mary Allen)
My first recalections of Herman are when I lived with him and grandmother on Long Ave. Herman worked for the city as an electrical engineer. He helped design the electrical layout for the river locks at the mouth of the Chicago River.
Herman did a lot of traveling when he was younger. On his vacations he would always drive. He liked photography also and took pictures where ever he would travel. He had quit a collection of 8 mm films also. I can remember he had a big Olds 88 that he used to take on his vacation trips.
When he retired he moved in with his doughter, Bea. And lived with her until his death.
