Lamar Maynard was my father. A pretty darn good one to me and my brother and sister. He was a great guy who loved to draw and was a successful architect and engineering draftsman. He served in the U.S. Navy for awhile, as did his father, and then so did I, and so did his granddaughter Tamera. He enjoyed camping and loved the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee. He worked hard his whole life to provide for his family. In doing so we lived in Chattanooga, TN, Huntsville, AL, Rockledge, FL, Ballwin and near Pacific, MO where we lived the country life for a while. He lived a few years in Orange Co., CA before finally making his home in Clearwater, FL. He is missed very much by the family he left behind.

MAYNARD, LAMAR, 70, of Palm Harbor, died Tuesday (Aug. 14, 2001) at home. He was born in Knoxville, Tenn., and came here in 1979 from St. Louis. Previously he worked as a design engineer for Reflectone Inc., Tampa. He was a Navy veteran and Methodist. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Bettie J.; two sons, Richard L., Bayonet Point, and Robert W., Dallas; a daughter, Sandra Maynard Underwood, Tarpon Springs; a brother Asa, LaSalles, Ill; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Curlew Hills Funeral Home, Palm Harbor.
