 Soon after the close of the Civil War, Henry Harkrider came to Titus County and married Caroline, daughter of David and Elizabeth Snodgrass. The Snodgrass family lived in the southeastern part of Titus County, and were landowners in that area. Henry and Caroline purchased land out of the E. Griffith and other surveys in the southeastern part of the county, and built a large log home, which after being used for many years, was torn down and a modern home built on the same location. This land is still owned by descendants of Henry Harkrider.
