  OLD MYSTERY RECALLED
Disappearance of Corfu Man 32 Years Ago
Mrs. Florence M. Norton, Orlando W. Reid and Amenzo T. Reid, children of
Andrew M. Reid, have commenced a Supreme Court action against Andrew M.
Reid, if living, and any others who may be interested, to clear the
title to a farm of 37 acres near Corfu.
This action recalls the mysterious and unexplained disappearance of
Andrew M. Reid from his home on the Corfu farm referred to 32 years
ago. Mr. Reid left the house about 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 1872.
An hour or so afterward he was seen on the highway about an eighth of a
mile from his house and as far as can be learned, he hasnever been seen
since. Search was long made for him without avail. In their complaint
in the action just started his children express their belief that he
was murdered and that his body was disposed of on his own farm. This
has always been shared by many others in that vicinity. There is a
deposit of quicksand on the back end of the Reid farm and it is thought
his body was disposed of there.
There was no known reason for his abandoning his family.
Mr. Reid's wife died almost a year ago and his children are now seeking
to clear the title to the farm, as they have an opportunity to sell it.
