Note: Karla graduated on May 19, 1911 from Niobrara, NE High School. Karlatook over being librarian when Elva Randa moved to Tucson - holding thepost until she resigned in October 1968. Obituary: "Karla M Reid was born August 31, 1893 at Niobrara,daughter of Amenzo and Achia Reid and passed away at her home here January 25,1971 at the age of 77 years, 4 months and 25 days. She lived all her life in Niobrara and served on the Library Board; as librarian; on the Cemetery Board - she was treasurer for many years;she also serve as Postal Clerk for many years. In the early 1920's when W.R. Pease was Postmaster, Karla was his efficient Clerk. When the Republicans came into power, Fred Hunt was appointed Postmaster. Mrs Frank Nelson, a very Republican woman, cameto the new Postmaster and said, Fred it's alright for you to keep Karlaon as clerk even if she is a Democrat. She is efficient, pleasnat, andeveryone likes her. In 1941 there was a vacancy on the cemetery board andKarla was appointed to fill the vacancy. In 1945 Sophia D. Lutt, who hadbeen our Treasurer since the Board was organized in 1922, grew ill andpassed away. Karla was appointed Treasurer, which office she held until in1969 because of ill health she resigned, 24 years of useful service. Nomember of the Cemetery Board ever received any salary. Survivors include nieces and nephews Mrs Lloyd Mitchell of Lincoln,George E Koster of Norfolk, Reid Harrsch of Madison, Wisconsin; Mrs LouiseHeet of Newport Beach, CA. Preceding her in death were her parents, brothers Will and Roy,sisters Julia Jennie, Grace Gertrude and Florence (Mrs George G Koster). Julia and Grace were twins and died of diptheria in 1891. Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm, Friday, January 29, at the Presbyterian church in Niobrara with Rev Ed Jackson, pastor.Pallbearers were Lester Fitch, Frank Tichy, Walter Scott, Roy Davis, ClarenceJanovec, Niels Nielsen. Interment was in L'Eau Qui Court cemetery, Hengstler Mortuary in charge."
