Note: (Research):Matilda and her first husband Spencer Cook married in 1823. Spencer and family are found on the 1830 census in Westford, VT. There were 4 children, 2 boys under 5; 1 boy under 10; 1 girl about 5). Spencer is not found after the 1830 census. He died sometime between 1830 and 1834 when Matilda married Hiram Leonard. On the 1840 census in Stockholm, St. Lawrence, NY under Hiram Leonard are 5 children; 1 boy under 5; 2 boys between 10-15; 1 male between 15-20 (Spencer); 1 female between 15-20. This all fits the Spencer Cook family on the 1830 census plus Hiram Jr. I found Spencer Cook b. Abt 1824 VT on the 1850 census, Norfolk, St. Lawrence, New York and his mother (I believe), Matilda, Hirman and family were 4 miles away in North Stockholm. Also on the 1850 Census in St. Lawrance Co, NY are George and John Cook, both born Vermont about 1830.
