Earlt vital records (1636-1850)from the towns of Westerly, Richmond, Hopkinton, Charlestown, Exeter, North Kingstown, South Kingstown. Good for births and marriages but deaths are scant. Note that the records of North Kingstown from that era were seriously damaged or in some cases, lost, by fire.

Also contained in this publication are "RI Historical Tracts", (began 1877, discontinued in 1896), "Newport Historical Magazine", later retitled "The RI Historical Magazine",(began 1880, discontinued in 1887) , and "The Narragansett Historical Register", (began 1882, discontinued in April, 1891).

This is the genealogy of Elder John Crandall, an early settler of Newport and Westerly, RI and carries down into the early 1900s. The Crandalls married into many other early families, particularly those of the SDB faith. Common allied names include Babcock, Burdick, Hubbard, Witter, Davis, Potter, Maxson and Clarke.
