Note: ALLAN LOYALL JONES 1900 TO 1976 LOYALL was born in Bath, Maine on September 20th 1900 to Ethan Allan and Elizabeth Augusta (Bradshaw) Jones affectionately known to all as Lizzie. She passed away from T.B. at the age of 23. Bertha Dean, a school teacher became his step-mother and his Dad worked for the Hyde Division of the Bath Iron Works. He attended public schools in Bath and in Bayonne N.J.where his father worked as a naval engineering inspector for Babcock & Wilcox. In 1909 father Ethan died from an operation for acute appendicitis. He and his step-mother returned to Bath, Maine where she remarried George Dean in whose house he seemed to be an unwelcome intruder. Saving his small earnings from his Bath Times paper route and other odd jobs, he decided to leave home and Morse High school after his freshman year in 1915 to live with his Uncle Frank R. Jones and maiden Aunt Cordelia Ann Jones in Portsmouth, N.H.,getting work at the Kittery Naval Shipyard. Being to young to enlist in the Army or Navy in WW I , he decided to get an education and, with what he had saved while working at the Navy Yard as well as some additional financial help from Frank, he enrolled at the Wentworth Technical Institute in Mass. where he graduated as a machinist in 1919?.
