Note: FROM AN UNKNOWN SAYRE, OK AREA NEWSPAPER, APRIL 23, 1962: J. E. BLACKWOOD RITES ARE HELD ON MONDAY Funeral services for Jesse Ernest Blackwood, retired dairyman and farmer, Sayre, who died at Ft. Supply Saturday following a short illness, were held Monday at 2:30 p.m. in the Moore Chapel with Rev. Daris M. Parker officiating. Born June 12, 1892 at Mountain Grove, Missouri, Mr. Blackwood was married to Mary McCormack in 1919 at Mountain Grove, Missouri. They came to western Oklahoma in 1927 and settled east of Sayre. He had resided near Sayre since then. He operated the Cozy Nook Confectionery on main street three years. He was a member of the Methodist church. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Betty Cooper, New Orleans, La., two sons, Earl of Glasgow, Montana, Dr. Noel Blackwood, Corpus Christi, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Rosie Dunlap and Mrs. Myrtle Mount, Fort Sumner, New Mexico, three grandchildren. Pallbearers were Claud Hammock, Garth Russell, Cletis Killian, Ted Walker, Maurice West, and Claude Branson. Committal was in the Sayre-Doxey cemetery with Moore Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
