Note: THE CORPUS CHRISTI (TX) TIMES Friday, Sept. 24, 1926 (Evening Edition) CORPUS CHRISTI COUPLE TOURING IN CALIFORNIA PLUNGED TO DEATH David Peel Friday was endeavoring to get into communication with California authorities in regard to the deaths of Mr. and Mrs. J. I. Breckenridge, said to have been killed by their auto plunging over a cliff of several hundred feet on a highway in the Giant Forest region of that state. The car in which the couple were riding went over the roadway at a curve and plunged down into a canyon. Mr. and Mrs. Breckenridge resided in Corpus Christi, at 1309 Chaparral street, and had lived here for about five years. Mr. Breckenridge was a retired businessman, and owned considerable property and was taking life easy by hunting, fishing, autoing and enjoying himself in any manner that suited his tastes, though living in a modest way. The couple had no children, though Mr. Breckenridge has a brother in Oklahoma and Mrs. Breckenridge has a sister in New Mexico and both had been visited on the present trip. They left here in May for an extended auto trip. The couple originally came here from Sayre, Oklahoma, and it is believed Mr. Breckenridge had made several investments in property here and also owned property in Oklahoma. They were well known in the section of the city in which they resided.
