Ca 1800 - John Paulsell born in Greene County TN (parents John Paulsell & Elizabeth Delaney)
Mary (Polly) Ann Bailey parents: James Bailey and Elizabeth Kennedy (daughter of Col. Daniel Kennedy, father of Greene County TN)
1821 - according to the Minutes of the Tennessee Annual Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church, United Methodist Church. John Paulsell was admitted on trial in 1821. This means he was a first year minister in the Tennessee Conference. (Letter from Dawn Patterson to Helen McCain; Commission on Archives and History)
1822 - John remained on trial (this is the usual course of action). (Letter from Dawn Patterson to Helen McCain; Commission on Archives and History, The United Methodist Church)
1823 - John was admitted in full connection. This means he was authorized to perform all the duties of an ordained minister. (Letter from Dawn Patterson to Helen McCain; Commission on Archives and History, The United Methodist Church)
1824 - John located. This means he left the ministry for reasons that may have had to do with illness or family matters. Generally when a minister located, he was leaving the possibility open for him to re-enter the ministry. After 1824 the church no longer kept track of him. (Letter from Dawn Patterson to Helen McCain; Commission on Archives and History, The United Methodist Chruch)

1837/38 - In the fall of 1837 "the family left Greene County TN shortly after the birth of their youngest child." Travelling with the Paulsells were the Baileys, Lights, Delaneys, and Brittain families.
John is reported to have died somewhere in Illinois in the fall of 1838 and buried somewhere along the road. Mary Ann and the children continued on to Missouri and settled somewhere on the border of present day Maries and Phelps County MO, before setting into the Phelps County MO area. Mary Ann Paulsell married Isaac Sands in Laclede County MO.
1842, 3 children: Cos Sands, Hardin Sands, Almira Sands (b 1842)
Mary Ann (Polly) Paulsell Sands died and was buried in the Hudgens Cemetery south of Rolla. I have 2 possible dates and have no idea which is correct - 12-29-1871 or 02-19-1863.
Occupation: John was a full deacon in the Methodist -Episcopal Church and church records show he attended Conferences in Tennessee in 1820 and in 1823 and in 1823 he was admitted in full connection which meant he could perform all the duties of an ordained minister. He performed many marriages and officiated at other religious events. __________
