Note: MISCELLANEOUS INFO: Mary & Sara Minter, daughters of Joseph Minter Jr. & Mary (Trabue or Buchanan? I've seen both given) married brothers, Carr & John III Bailey, sons of John Jr. & Elizabeth Carr Bailey, m. ~1685. She is listed as d/o William & Sarah Eskridge Carr. This Sara MAY have been the sister of the George Eskridge who was guardian to Mary Ball & god-father to her son, George Washington. Not proven, but the dates & places are right. Wm. Bailey was the s/o John III and m. ELizabeth THompson; their son, Elisha (b. in Hawkins CO, TN)m. Lucinda Stacy and they are my gg-gp's. They later moved to Morgan Co, KY, I believe. Certainly their son, Mason Bailey lived there. I'd be interested to know if there is documentation of Joseph Minter Jr's wife being Mary TRABUE. Also, the Elizabeth who was d/o Joseph & Mary Minter m. George Rogers, if the info I have is correct. A later Eliz may have married a later Wm Bailey, as they seem to have had a fondness for marrying into each other's families. I have further info on the ealier Baileys if anyone is interested--just e-mail me. According to "Early Settlers of Lee County, Virginia.....", John BAILEY, IV, probably married Sarah MINTER, a daughter of Joseph MINTER, Jr. and Mary TRABUE. I have seen a reference to Martha (Carr) LANE as his wife in a book on the KELLY family but presumed that was wrong. Martha CARR, of Westmoreland Co, VA, d/o William CARR and Sarah ESKRIDGE, was b. bef 1702, d. aft. 1763, married abt. 1717, William LANE and had at least 4 children. She was a sister of Elizabeth CARR, who married John BAILEY, Jr., grandfather of John BAILEY, IV. John BAILEY IV was born abt. 1748 and probably married Sarah MINTER abt. 1772. If this is the correct Martha Carr Lane, I don't think that John Bailey IV would have married his great aunt, a woman 46+ years his senior. __________ Virginia Land, Marriage, and Probate Records, 1639-1850: Bailey, John; 11-16-1774; Augusta County VA; Property part of patent to Thomas Beal; Witness; Remarks: This land record was originally published in "Chronicles of the Scotch-Irish Settlement in Virginia, 1745-1800.
