Nelson is "h of h," 36, house carpenter, MO/MO/MO; Maggie L. is 34, 2 of 2 chidren,TN/TN/TN; Dixie is 13, b. in TX; Joyce is 6, b. in TX. Maggie and James Nelson must have divorced between April 1910 and September 1913 when she married WDM Hays. 1920 CENSUS: Monterey Co., CA, Castroville Twnsp., p. 7A, ED: 8, Image 785 on Ancestry (#13 of 14). 28 January, 1920. "Maggie," 48 yrs., TN/TN/TN, is living with husband "William D M Hays," a 52 yr. old "minister," her 16 yr. old daughter, Joyce (listed as Hays, not Nelson) and her 5 yr. old son, "David G." Later in 1920 WDM, Maggie and David moved to Zolfo Springs, Hardee Co., FL where David started school. Joyce went to her father in Wichita Falls, TX. WDM died suddenly in 1926, and Maggie and David moved back to California, to Sacramento where her daughter Dixie Bottaro was living. 1930 Federal Census: Sacramento, Sacramento County, CA. Ed: 72, p. 4B, image 587 on "Ancestry", 5 April, 1930. "Maggie L. Hays", 3 years widowed, is head of household (TN/GA/GA) and with her is 15 year old "David G." After her mother's death in 1932 Maggie moved to Santa Cruz, CA next to her sister Viola Downing. David stayed in Sacramento with Dixie and Babe Bottaro where he finished high school.
