a. Note:   James Galley was listed as James Williams father on a marriage certificate, yet he took his mother's maiden name. No Father listed on the Birth Certificate only Martha Golden Howes
  Emigrated 11 Jan 1879 on S S Adamant Landed at napier In the 1851 Norfolk Census James was named Howes in the 1861 census he was Galley Off Birth certificate compliments of David Galley James William's birth certificate reads as follows Born at Felthorpe in the registration district of St Faiths in the county of Norfolk on October 15th 1845. No father is mentioned on the certificate and the mother is shown as Martha Golden Howes. Martha was the informant of the birth, she was living in Felthorpe at the time and signed the certificate herself(not by a mark). The birth was registered on the sixth of November 1845 and the Registrar was R Richards. Immigration References state William that William worked at Catridden Farm Stanghow Lingdale Guisborough Uk in 1873-1874 and he resided in Lingdale Guisbro in 1878 William Hannah & Joseph arrived in NZ on Board the Adamant arriving in Napier 11th Jan 1879. On the voyage Hannah had midwifery problems, indicating she was pregnant with their 2nd child She gave birth on the voyage to Alfred Adamant Bowring Howes naming their son after the ship Adamant and the Captian Bowring Occupation of William in 1875 on his sons birth Certificate states Miner William Died without a Will Inscription of Headstone at Ormondville Cemetery
