a. Note:   Roswell's father was born in Vermont, his mother in Massachusetts and he was born in Kansas, but 1900 found him living in Texas as a boarder in the home of Louis Las Trilfer on Ceylon Street in Eagle Pass, Maverick County, Texas. Roswell was working in a Lumber yard as a clerk. This was probably the Eagle Pass Lumberyard that his father had purchased in 1898. Just one house down from Roswell's place lived William Lebow and his family. Roswell later married William's niece, Maydelle Drake. By 1910 Roswell was manager of the lumber yard. His sister, Genevieve, was living with the family in 1910 although that same census shows her living with her father and step-mother. Roswell and his family seemed to have liked Eagle Pass since they seemed to have stayed in the area for quite awhile. In 1920 besides his wife and three children, Roswell had a live-in servant in his home on 2nd Avenue. His name was George Thomas and he was 37 years old.
