  3 May 1936 - From Bruce's notes when he visited Arthur Brock - Among grandmother's things - A picture of Mrs. Baird (Ida Thrailkill) with Bruce (3 months 3 weeks old), George and Jerry - taken at the side of the house in front of my basement window at 3028 Prytania.
  Conversation with Stephen Baird, 19 Nov 1997 When dad was transferred from Chicago to New Orleans by his company, we lived in an apartment house at 8th Street and Prytania.

  GEORGE D. BAIRD TAKEN BY DEATH Heart Attack Claims Candidate for Congress
  George Dewey Baird, sole Louisiana Republican candidate for Congress, died of a heart attack at 7:30 a. m. Monday at his residence, 460 Glendale Boulevard, Metairie. He was 44 years old.
  Funeral services will be conducted today at 2 p. m. from the funeral home of Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp Inc., 4127 South Claiborne avenue, with interment in Hope Mausoleum.
  Born in Atlanta, Ga., Mr. Baird had lived in New Orleans for the last 10 years. His candidacy for a seat in the United States Congress marked his first bid for a public office. He was connected with the Commerce Clearing House, a law publishing firm with offices in the Hibernia building.
  A graduate of Vanderbilt university, he also attended Northwestern in Chicago. A veteran of World War I, Mr. Baird was a member of the American Legion, the Forty and Eight and Jerusalem Temple of the Shrine.
  Survivors include his widow, the former Miss Margot Brock; two sons, Stephen Girard and Bruce Chandler Baird; his parents, Mrs. Ida Thrail Kill Baird and John M. Baird; five sisters, Mrs. Lucille Harbuck, Mrs. Lester Granville, Mrs. James Ryle, Mrs. Robert Stokes and Miss Susan Baird, and three brothers, Alfred, John and Marshall Baird.
