  Charles and Judith SAXON are among my wife's ancestors, and I've been researching the family for over 35 years now. I have found NO primary evidence that Charles was ever married to a woman named "Betty," "Washington," or "Lewis." There is proof, however, that he was married to a "Judith," and reasonably good circumstantial evidence that she was a daughter of Ambrose Joshua SMITH, who died testate in Aug 1758 in Chatham Co., NC. Nor have I found any primary evidence that Charles was a son of Robert SAXON and Judith GRAVES. I feel strongly that Charles was a son of Samuel SAXON, who died testate in Halifax Co., NC in 1766, and his wife Mary (who may have been a YANCEY). -- Ron Head, ronhead@knology.net, 14 Jul 2004
