He was a Sawyer, he cut the trees into lumber for the army. Too old for World War 2. Died from a massive Stroke in City Memorial Hospital Nacogdoches, Texas. Only had a third grade education. Was taken out of school and put to work by his step-father. Ophelia nick name was Olla. Beatrice nick name was Betey. Florance nick name was Bertie. Nancy [Flemming or Davis] nick name was Nan and Nannie James Anthony Byrd nick name was Jim. Burried in a seperate Byrd Plot in Oak Grove Cemetery. His father is burried on the opposite side of the cemetery, in the Old Section. He wanted to be burried beside his first wife and my mother honored his request. He was not burried beside my mother (his last wife). He wanted to be buried in pajamas, so he would look like he was sleeping. My mother buried him that way. ******************** According to his death citificate his mothers name was Nannie Davis (A.K.A.) Nancy Davis, but I have been told that was a mistake as her name was Nancy Flemming. Also, his age on the citificate is listed a 70 years old at last birth day. He was just a few days short of 81 years old. Therefore he was 80 when he died. There was a name change of his father from [Italian ?] to Bird To Byrd. There was two man named Bird and both had the same first name James. There seems to be confusion as to which one is the named one.
