Note: Was married before to a Boston Watson and had two daughters. Divorced and later married my father. Her nick name was "Kewpie" but with the southern drawl if came out "Coupie", and that nick name stuck. She was named Kewpie "coupie" because she loved to dance and named after the Kewpie doll that always dances on the car dashboard, that friends had seen. She never had a birth record, from the family bible only. And she never had a Social Security Card. Her parents were cotton farmers from Chireno, Texas. They are burried in Attoyac, Texas in the Black Jack Cemetery. She is burried beside her daughter Comal Annette Byrd in Oak Grove Cemetery, Nacogdoches, Texas. From the Daily Sentenal MRS. BYRD FOUND Dead By Neighbors Funeral Services for Mrs. Comal Holt Byrd, 54, of Route 4, Box 141, will be held Tues- day at 4 p.m. in the East Main Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Ennis Fuller, pastor, offi- ciating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Holt was found in her home at Stallings Drive and the Woden Road by neighbors Sat- urday at 9:25 p.m. Nacog- doches Police Department was called, and an inquest was held by Justice of the Peace Carl Burrows. Judge Burrows or- dered an autopsy, which was preformed by Dr. Jack Pritt, pathologst of Lufkin. Cause of death was established as heart attack and massive hem- orrage, and it was was established that she had been dead since Wednesday, May 7. Born March 9, 1915, in Chi- reno, Mrs Byrd was the daugh- [Noel Pascal Holt, Sr.] ter of Noel Pascal and Mary [Mary Ninah Baker] Nina Baker Holt, a menber of the East Main Pentecostal Church, and a lifetime resident of the county. She was mar- ried May 20, 1939, to James A. [James Anthony Byrd, Sr.] Byrd Sr., and he preceded her in death. Survivors are a son James [James Anthony Byrd, Jr.] A. Byrd Jr. of Fort Worth; two step-sons, the Rev Jack Byrd [Jack Edwin Byrd] step-son of Garrison and Orel Lee Byrd [Oren Lee Byrd] step-son of Nacogdoches; two daughters, Mrs. A. M. Cantrell of Long- [Marcel Lee Watson] view, and Mrs. Robert Shallow [Ruth Jewel Watson] of Pontiac Mich.; a step-daugh- ter, Mrs. Gerald Andrews of [Margaret Nan Byrd] step-daughter Fort Worth; two brothers, W. [Willie Eugene Holt] E. Holt of Nacogdoches and Noel Holt of Alvin; two sisters, [Noel Pascal Holt, Jr.] Mrs. Opal Butler of Chireno and (Opal Ollie Holt] Mrs. Grady Dickerson of San [Grace Ninah Holt] Augustine; and six grandchil- dren. Cason Monk Funeral Home will direct arrangements.
