Note:   (Research):6/17/2007 - Census Data\\1900 - Cook County, IL\\Joseph Novy
 According to the 1900 census:
Joseph immigrated to the US in 1880 and because the abreviation "Pa" appears in column 18, Naturalization, he submitted papers for naturalization in that year. (ref: http://usa.ipums.org/usa/voliii/inst1900.shtml )
His occupation is listed as "Hod carrier" He rents his home on Desplaines Street, in Chicago Ward 19.
At this time, he and Katherine had been married for 20 years, impliying they were married in 1880.
  6/18/2007 - Passenger & Immigration Lists Index, 1500s-1900s
I found a Josef Novy arriving in the US in 1880 at age 37 (est birth year, abt 1843). Source publication code - 206.7. Source is page 122 of Czech Immigration Passenger Lists, Vol IX by BACA, LEO, Richardson, TX: Author, 1707 Woodcreek, Richardson, TX 75082, 199.210p This may or may not be GGGF Novy.
6/23/2007 - Census Data\\1910-Cook County, IL\\Joseph Novy (due to transcription error, it shows as Wong in Ancestry.com)
Joseph and Katherine are still in the 19th Ward of Chicago. With them are sons Gustav (23, b. abt 1887) and Jerry (21 b. abt 1889) and daughter Elsie (13, b. abt 1897). Daughter Mary (age 16 b. abt 1884 - in the 1900 Census) is no longer in the home. Presumably married but possible either deceased or out on her own. Also, Barbora Kratka, Katherine's mother, who was in the home in 1900, is not in the 1910 Census. She is presumably deceased.
  In the 1930 census:
There is a Joseph Novy in the Bohemian Old People's Home and Orphan Asylum on 5061 N. Crawford Ave in Chicago. This may or may not be GGF Josef Novy.
c. Note:   BI188
Note:   Joseph's exact birth date (20 Feb 1843) is recorded in the 1900 US Census.
d. Note:   DI188
Note:   Josef was alive and living in Montana on 25 Jan 1923 (according to the date on a land pattent)
e. Note:   NF75
Note:   According to the 1900 census:
Joseph and Katherine had been married 20 years on 6/1/1900, meaning they were married before 6/1/1880.
They were living on Desplaines Street at this time. Since there are multiple families at the same address, it is assumed to be an appartment building.
