Born in Neosho, MO., Thurman came to Prowers County in November of 1964. Previously he lived in Baca County. Survivors include two sons, Charles and J. L. Thurman.   September 5, 2009 Lamar, Prowers Co., CO I and cousins, Shyla Blair, Kathy Wilson and Laura Streeter went to the cemetery to locate his gravesite. We found that his name was recorded in a book at the cemetery entrance and that he is buried in Lot 20, Block 29 north half of south half of section 3. We went to the spot and noted that there was no marker placed on his gravesite. We also noted that the record book showed his correct age when he died, however, the date of death is shown as September 16, 1933. He actually died in 1966. I also researched the courthouse records in Springfield on this trip but was not able to find any records on him, including a marriage record for "Mrs. Jones".
