a. Note:   Information from Bud Bolling: "As I previously mentioned, it is my belief (WITHOUT PROOF YET) that the widow of Edward Bolling (1687-1710) never got along with Edward's parents, Robert Bolling and Anne Stith Bolling -- mainly because Edward and his wife were married when Edward was a teenager and very probably had more than one child, even though Edward was at sea quite often. I believe that the couple was almost ostracized by his parents, because even the parish records of Bristol Parish carry only the last name of Edward's wife (Slaughter), and we have found nothing at all about his family.
Therefore, when Edward died at sea, I believe that his wife took her kids and headed for North Carolina to be with the Baker family. If there was a daughter named Mary, then it would have been logical for Mary Bolling to mary into the Baker family."
