  Chuck, fifteen years younger than his brother, Edgar, lost both his father and mother in a span of two weeks during the summer of 1947, shortly after he turned 17. It has been said that Chuck was a true cowboy, a hard worker on ranch and rodeo. " a good old boy". Charles died all too young at the age of 37, in Davenport, IA, after severely lacerating his arm in an accident; he went into shock and status asthmaticus from which he could not be revived. He was returned to Visalia for burial in the Baker Family Plot of the Visalia Cemetery, July 1 1967.
