Note: Newspaper Obituary George Wallace Baker
George Wallace Baker was born on August 17, 1891, at Everton, Missouri, where he spent the early years of his life. He married Dora Maude Yates on October 20, 1915 at Atlanta, Kansas. In 1919 they moved to Kim, Colorado, where he lived prior to coming to Delta.
He had been a member of the Church of Christ for 36 years, and was a teacher of the Bible for the past nine years in the church in Delta. As an active Christian, he was highly admired and respected by all his many friends and neighbors.
He was employed by the Colorado Milling and Elevator Co. for 9 years where he was a faithful and diligent worker.
He departed this life on May 6, 1951, at the age of 59 years, 8 months, and 19 days. Surviving him are his dear wife, Dora; daughter Martha Goldia; and four son: George Andrew, Earl Russell, Ira Benner, and Alvin Lee Baker. Also one son-in-law, four daughters-in-law, seven grandchildren; three sisters: Mrs. Stella Martia (Martin) of San Diego, California: Mrs. Clossie Carnes, of Aldrich, Missouri, and Mrs. Hazel Guinn, of Drakes Creek, Arkansas, plus a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives by marriage.
