  John Baker's Will found at Greenfield Court House, Probate Office, Dade County, Missouri.
  Know all men by these present that I JOHN BAKER of the County of Dade and the State of Missouri. Being of sound and memory and knowing that life is short and death is serton, I do make this my Last Will and Testament. First my will is that all my just debts and nesary funeral expenceses shall by my executor hereinafter shall be paid out of my estate as soon after my decise as shall by him found convenient. I give devise and bequeath to MARTHA BAKER, my beloved wife, one choise cow and all of my household and kitchin furnutor and six hundred dollars in cash to be low and managed by my executor to the best advantage for her benefit during her life. The remainder to be sole by my executor and devided eaqueal between the following named heirs. Begainge with my son ZACKRIAH BAKER & my daughters ABIGALE IRBY & MARGRET WITHEROW & LOUISA BOZE, MARY CRAGG & ICY LITERAL & HARIT SMITH & MANERVY DILDAY and my sons PORTER BAKER & JAMES and THOMAS and ANDREW BAKER and MISSOURI A POINDEXTER, my daughter. After the death of my beloved wife it is my wish and will that all of the household and kitchin furniture be eaqueally divided between the girls above named. And the money left by me for the support MARTHA BAKER my wife, if there should be any left at her decest then it shall be eaqually devided between the above named heirs thirteen in all. It is my will for my executor to sell and deed my real estate when at some time in the futear when it will sell for the best price that can be obtained and the deed maid by him shall bee as binding against my heirs as if tho I wase living and sign it myself. And lastely I do nominat & apponit my son ZACKRIAH BAKER to be my executor of this my Last will and testament. In testimony whereof I the said JOHN BAKER have to this my Last will and testament I have subscribed my nam and affixed my seal this 20th day of November 1885. John (X) Baker (seal)

  The Advocate (Greenfield, MO) Thurs. Feb. 25, 1886 Died at his late residence in Everton, Dade Co., MO, Feb. 15, 1886, John Baker, Aged 70 years, two months and four days.
  John Baker owned 40 acres of land in the NE section of the SE section in Section 31 Township 30 Range 25 ; and about one acre and a quarter of an acre it being part NE NE of Section 17 Township 30 of Range 25 adjoin the town of Everton.
  At the time of his death John and Martha's small farm provided them with the comforts of an early day farm life.
  Jackson County AL would have still been Madison Co. in 1815. Possible parents are John Zachariah Baker and Nancy Wilson, who were married in Madison Co., Alabama April 17, 1811.
  1880 Dade Co. MO Census states that his parents were born in Kentucky.
