a. Note:   l as providing the data on Ann's parents, having gotten them from Marlene Hudson, who wrote her that Parker's surname was also spelled NORVEL , NORVELL, NOEL, NOVEL, NOELL, NEWELL. Allison spells the name as Norval.
 I think Marlene uses the spelling Norvell.
  Anna's year of birth was confirmed, her birthplace, the full date and location of her marriage to Parker Norval were all found on Ancestry's OneWorldTree.
  Marlene Hudson sent me copies of several original court documents and the census findings that follow, except for 1880, which I found myself. I have been unable to find Ann and her husband in the 1870 census.

  22 Sep 1860, Putnam Co, MO, P. 191: A court paper signed by Wm R. Calfee, and recorded by William A. Shelton, saying, if I understand it correctly, that Kelom and Ann Abernathy sold five acres of their property to Samuel Richards of Illinois for $200.00, and that Ann acknowledged that she had given up her dower freely.
  4 May 1864, Unionville, Putnam Co, MO: R. I. Noggle signed a court paper stating, if I understand it correctly, that Kelom and Ann Abernathy sold 40 acres of their property to John Jordan of Putnam Co, MO for $142.50, that Ann had given up her dower freely, and he, as holder of the note, had been paid in full.
  1870 Census: Ann and Kelam are not found.
  2 Dec 1875, Putnam Co, MO, P. 776: If I understand it correctly, Kelom Abernathy and his wife Ann sold some of their property to Putnam Co, MO for $120 plus 10% interest. Ann signed with an X. She had relinquished her dower to help obtain the property.
  1 Feb 1877: John M. Baird, Ann's son-in-law, explained in his final report as the administrator of her estate, that he had cared for her since this date.

  20 March, 1884, Putnam Co, MO: Dr. James Turner, Dealer in Groceries, Drygoods, Boots, Shoes, Queenware and Furniture, acknowledged with a receipt that John Beard [Baird], Administrator of Ann Abernathy's estate, had paid in full ($23.80) what he owed for Ann's funeral expenses, i.e., $22 for the coffin or box, $.80 for lace, $.85 for gloves, $.12 for a bobonette [a hair ornament?], and $.05 for thread.
  21 March 1884, Putnam Co, MO: Ann Abernathy died according to John Baird in the 26 March court document re his oath as administrator. A very brief obituary in the local paper announced that she had died of pneumonia this date at the age of 26 years [sic, should be 76].
  22 March 1884, Putnam Co, MO: Ann Abernathy died, according to the court document below signed 26 March 1884 by Francis M. Norval.
  26 March, 1884, Putnam Co, MO: Ann Abernathy's son, Francis M. Norval, in declined to administer his mother's estate, and named her heirs and their residences: Martha J. Beihner of the south part of MO "when last heard from"; George W. Norval of Jacksonville, IL; Francis M. Norval of Putnam Co, MO; Sarah E. Baird of Putnam Co, MO; the children of Susan A. Abernathy, Ann's deceased daughter, i.e., Marion R. Abernathy and John Abernathy; and Andrew J. Norval, residence unknown.
  26 March 1884: The Missouri Putnam County Public Library sent me the reference to Ann's probate papers in ESTATE RECORDS FROM PUTNAM COUNTY, MISSOURI 1845-1909. The reference says "Ann Abernathy Died 21 Mar 1884 Filed 26 Mar 1884 #22 Heirs by John M. Baird, son in law. Martha J. Behner of South Mo., George W. Norval of Jacksonville, Ill. Sarah E. Baird of Putnam Co Mo., Francis W. Norval of Putnam Co Mo. Andrew J. Norval address unknown and Susan A. Abernathy dau dec'd, Children are Marion R. and John Abernathy of Kans."
  26 March, 1884, Putnam Co, MO: John M. Baird as Principal, and James L. Brasfield and John M. Valentine as Securities , signed up for an Administrator's Bond of $700, in the presence of W. A. Shelton, Probate Judge.
  26 March 1884, Unionville, Putnam Co, MO, Book 1, P. 59: John M. Baird, Administrator, took an oath in front of W. A. Shelton, Probate Judge, that Ann had died intestate without leaving a will on March 21, 1884, with these heirs, Martha J. Beihner, George W. Norval, Francis M. Norval, Sarah Baird, Andrew J. Norval and the children of Ann's deceased daughter, Susan Abernnathy, i.e., Marion R. and John Abernathy, and that he would faithfully administer Ann's estate, pay the debts as far as the assets permit, will pay the assets as he knew them, and account for them.
  26 March 1884, Putnam Co, MO: W. A. Shelton, Probate Judge, swore John M. Baird in as Administrator of Ann Abernathy's estate and certified G. W. Porter and Jacob Garver to be Baird's assistants.
  26 March 1884, Unionville, Putnam Co, MO: Probate Judge Shelton signed a document "Appointment of Witness" stating that due to their honor, fidelity, and capacity, Jacob Garver and George W. Porter were appointed to assist John M. Baird, Ann's administrator.
  27 March 1884, Unionville, Putnam Co, MO: An inventory of Ann Abernathy's property was filed in Unionville, Putnam Co, MO by John M. Baird, the administrator. Jacob Garver and George W. Porter assisted Baird in making this inventory. Ann was found not to have any real estate, and her personal property included a clock, a bedstead, a mirror, a trunk, a cupboard, $2.50 in cash, and a note for $250 on Jarnes Turner dated March 22, 1881, "due twelve months after date, with interest from date at the rate of six per cent per annum", which interest calculated to be $45.20, all for a total of $297.70."
  27 March 1884: Porter and Garver filed their report that they had appraised Ann's clock at $3.00, her bedstead at $2.00, her mirror at $.50, her trunk at $1.50, and her cupboard at $1.00 for a total lof $8.00.
  3 April 1884: Date that the Unionville Republican Newspaper had this death notice: "ABERNATHY-Mar. 21, Ann Abernathy, of Unionville, of pneumonia, aged 76 years." received from Missouri's Putnam County Public Library, Ibid.
  8 May 1884, Unionville, MO: Nutt and Morgan's Livery & Exchange Stable wrote Baird a receipt that they had received $2.50 for their funeral services,
  12 May 1884, Putnam Co, MO: John M. Baird and James E. Burnham, Notary Public, signed a statement saying that since Baird had taken care of Ann Abernathy from February 1, 1877, to the time of her death, March 21, 1884, seven years at $50.00. amounting to $350.00, and that Baird believed he had paid all the monies claimed, that he was justly due the balance.
  12 June 1884, Unionville, MO: A. J. Bennett signed a statement that he had received $12.00 in full from Baird for Ann's set of gravestones. The one in the Unionville Cemetery in Unionville, Putnam Co, Missouri, says "Ann Abernathy, Wife of K. Abernathy, died March 21, 1884, Age 76 years." The other gravestone is not at her first husband's burial site according to cemetery records which were made in 1973. It may have been there at one time, but is not now.
  14 Aug 1884, Putnam Co, MO: Probate Judge Shelton signed a $350 certificate of allowance to the account of the Administrator's Bond: James M. Baird, J. L. Brasfield, and J. M. Valentine.
  1 May 1885, Unionville, Putnam Co, MO: W. A. Shelton, Probate Judge, signed a statement from G. H. Gardner, city editor of the Unionville Republican newspaper, that for a fee of $3.00, he had published John M. Baird, Administrator's Notice of Final Settlement in the paper on April 9, 1885 (V. 20, No. 27); April 16, 1885 (V. 20, No. 28); April 23, 1885 (V. 20, No. 29); and April 30, 1885 (V. 20, No. 30) stating that he would make a final settlement of his accounts re Ann Abernathy's estate on 11 May 1885 at the next term of the Probate Court.
  11 May 1885, Unionville, Putnam Co, MO: John Baird's first and final statement to the court said that he charged himself a total of $305.70 ($8.00 for the appraisement of Ann's estate, $250 cash collected from James Turner on the note, $45.20 in interest on the note collected from James Turner, and $2.50 for Ann's cash on hand at the time of her death). Then Baird claimed credit for these items he had paid: 1) $2.50 to Hutt and Morgan for their livery services, 2) $12.00 to A. J. Bennett for grave stones, 3) $23.80 to James Turner for the coffin, etc., 4) $5.20 to Dr. Geysingon, 5) $350.00 Administrator's fee, such as $8.40 probate fees including the notice of administration [and other fees not showing up on sheet].
  14 May 1885, Unionville, MO, Book 2, P. 545: W. A. Shelton, Probate Judge and John M. Baird signed a statement saying that Baird received $305.70 for his work as Administrator for Ann Abernathy, deceased.
