Notes
a. Note:   Leroy Kingery (lkingery@coffey.com) on Ancestry site 44182 provided the names of James's parents, their birthdata, and the names of two of his and Elizabeth's children. He also has several generations of the Murrays on his sites. Ancestry.com's "Gene Pool Individual Records- Births and Marriages" has the birthdates and birthstates of Elizabeth's husband, his parents, his siblings, and his two children. I learned afterwards that all the data on the Murray family in this Gene Pool came from LDS's Pedigree Resource File and IGI/North America. Note: This Gene Pool has nothing about Elizabeth's ancestors which I have elsewhere on Rootsweb.com.
Date and full location of James's birth, the names of his parents, spouse, and of two children were found on the Rootsweb site of Dan Pierce (dptrack@ispwest.com) entitled "Wombacher Family Tree" [database 305796]).
Susan Carl (scarl49932@qmail.com) was able to look through James's military and pension files at the National Archives. She found that "he died in Sawtelle near LA - in an Old Soldiers Home on 27 May 1925. He was apparently sick his entire life and kept asking over and over again for his pension. ...He eventually got it but they kept denying it and saying ridiculous things like we need the name of the doctor in the military hospital who saw you during the war - WHEN all of this was in his military file. He was also taken prisoner at the Battle of Lexington on 18 Dec 1862. His occupation is listed as blacksmith and he was 18 when he enlisted. He enlisted in Cincinnati on 23 Oct 1862. James was in Co E, 5th Regiment Ohio Cav. His pension record says he was born in Meigs Co and enlisted in Meigs, but his military record says he was born in Philadelphia. His brother Benjamin is one of his character witnesses, as is Elijah Vining, who said he shared a tent with him during the war and so knew his medical condition.
  Children listed:
 Leila b. 11 Jan 1878
 George b. 2 March 1879
 Clara b. Feb 26 1884
Sarah Elizabeth b. 24 Nov 1890 (another place he says 1891 and yet another
 place 25 Nov)
James Ellsworth and John Ellison, twins b. 8 June 1894 (another place he says 1895)
  PLACES WHERE HE LIVED:
There are affidavits asking for a pension from James from Sherman, Nebraska - 1890, Duchesne Co, Myton, Utah - 1915.
Other places he said he lived: Pomeroy from discharge till 1868, something like Faissons, Minn till 1869, Jackson, looks like Minn till 1877, Pomeroy to 1880, then back to Fimore Co, Minn til 1881 (these spellings could be wrong - it is hard to read the document), then Blair, Washington Co, Neb till 1881, until Sherman Co, Nebraska. Other documents list this is where he lived: Spring Valley, MN in 1877; Litchfield, Nebraska 1880; Olathe, CO 1896 and Myton, Utah 1914, and obviously LA, Calif.
He lists his daughter Clara as the next of kin in Buhl in 1925."
22 April 1877: Meigs County, Ohio marriage records have a Melissa E. Carl marrying James E. Murray this date, according to Susan Carl. Rhonda Rice provided his middle name as Ellsworth, from Catherine Carl Phillip's family records. Catherine was Elizabeth's niece, daughter of Leroy Carl, Elizabeth's brother. The word "Kansas" was entered after James and Elizabeth's names in the records. If they indeed moved to Kansas, we have not been able to substantiate it.
Dan Pierce (dptrack@prodigy.net) on rootsweb.com notes that James Ellison Murray went by [the nickname] Ell.

Note 1: The one name missing in the above list on page 2 is Christena's, whose name and birthdate are on page 1.
Note 2: All the birthdates above match the ones typed by the late Lorena Washeck years ago, believed copied from Bible records, except for Wilson Jr. Lorena had his birthdate as 1848 instead. Lorena also had Wilson Sr.'s wife Elizabeth's birthdate as December 24, 1816.
Note 3: The big surprise was Elizabeth Melissa's twin's name being given above as Ames Carl. Lorena had had it as Murray Carl. It is not spelled as Amos; it could possibly be Amas, but looks most like Ames.

The place has a population of 300 who are manifesting considerable enterprise, which is evidenced by roller mills, elevator, two banks, etc. There are also two churches -- Methodist and Presbyterian -- a G.A.R. post and a lodge of A.O.U.W. The local newspaper is the Litchfield Moniter, E.R. Bradley, publisher. "
Leroy Kingery (lkingery@coffey.com) wrote me that while James's four youngest children were born, his sister Virginia Wombacher and her family were also "in Nebraska, settling there for about 7 years. According to information by my grandmother they finally gave up and moved on because of drought, arriving in Colorado (Lafayette) just prior to 1900 where my great grandmother Virginia Murray Wombacher died. Then the family moved on to Encampment WY in 1898 I believe."

8 May 1897: According to Leroy Kingery, Ibid, James's sister, Virginia, died from childbirth complications, and James's son, George, travelled far to be at her side when she was dying.
