Notes
a. Note:   ertificate. Occupation listed as "Carpenter" for the Pocahontas Fuel Company.
Alexander Durham is listed in the 1880 census living not too far from William and Phebe Durham. There are two listings. The first listing shows Alexander, age 18, as a "laborer" along with a "Mary Durham", age 32, listed as "servant/cook" in the household of Mary A. Young. The second listing shows Alexander, age 29, listed as "laborer" with wife "Mary", age 34. Most likely these are the same people.
In the 1900 census for Tazewell County, VA - Mary Durham is listed with two children - Edna and James. Edna "Adams", "widow" is listed again in the 1910 census for Tazewell under the household of James Durham and Ada Durham. Alexander Durham and wife Mary are also living in the household of James and Ada Durham in Clear Fork District. Alexander is listed as "Father" and is 50 years old and born in "Virginia". His wife Mary is listed as "Mother" and is 64 and born in Virginia. Mary dies before the 1920 census.
Alexander Durham appears in the 1920 census, with a second wife "Lilly V." and several "step-children". One child "Gladys" is listed as "daughter". Gladys Durham - age 10 is listed later living with James and Ada Durham in the 1930 census for Louisa County, Virginia. Gladys Durham is listed as "sister".

c. Note:   lexander and Mary Durham is listed in the household of William Green and Florence Nuckols in the 1900 census. Lillian V. Nuckols, born July 1883, is listed as an older sister to Ada. It is very likely that this is the same Lillian V. who is married to Alexander Durham in the 1920 census for Tazewell County, Virginia. (Marriage record below)
