Note: Gordo Funeral services for John Henry Beard, 71 of Gordo, who died Tuesday at AMI West Alabama General Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. today at the Elmore Center Methodist Church. The Rev. David Weaver and the Rev. Chester Free will officiate with burial I the Memory Hill Gardens in Tuscaloosa and Stabler-Robbins Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Avalu Beard, Gordo; two daughters, Melba Fair an June Bowen, both of Gordo; a son, Ralph Beard, Gordo; a sister, Suvilla Mae Williams, Northport; three step-sisters, Kate Ledbetter, Lucille Boswell, both of Macon, Miss., and Helen Strickland, Aliceville; two half-brothers, Howard Fair, Tuscaloosa, and Avery Fair, Warner Robins, Ga.; three step-brothers Jessie Fair, Elrod and Laverne Fair, Columbus, Miss; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; an other relatives.
Pallbearers will be Leland Driver, Leroy Shirley, Charlie Elmore, Talmadge Guy, Gene Wilson, Jimmy William, David Goodman, & William Hall.
Honorary pallbearers will include Dr. S.B. Sundar, Dr. George Nunn, Dr. Joe Davis, Dr. Everett Hale, all friends and customers.
He was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church and a life long resident of Pickens County.
