Note: If the father of William Walter Beavers was born in 1691, then he'd have been 64 years old at the birth of his son. This may be a Grandfather. ==================== The following NOTES have been posted by Kenneth M. Lakey. His comprehensive study of early BEAVERS immigrants is facinating, so I have taken the liberty of including them in my own postings. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1638 Mathew Beaver, brought over by William Morgan, arrived Virginia Matthew Beaver in 1638 under William Morgan "Headrights" of 600 acres in Virginia on the Chicahominy Section according to records in the Virginia Historical Society of Richmond, Virginia. Hotten's " List of Emigrants to America" Beaver, Francis Liber 12 Folio 215 Transported 1668-9 (ESOM) Early Settlers of Early Settlers of Maryland by Gust Skordas (ESOM) List of Emigrants to America" gives a John Beaver, age twenty two, from London to Virginia in 1699, coming from Hepworthe, Yorkshire. Beaver, Richard Liber 18 Folio 96 Transported 1674 (ESOM) Early Settlers of Early Settlers of Maryland by Gust Skordas (ESOM) In 1703 John Beavers married Jane Pierce in Cork Ireland. In 1727, on October 8, at Kingston, N.Y. there was a marriage of a widower, Robert Beaver who came over from England and settled there, to a Barbara de Wit. They had several children of their own, in addition to perhaps children of the widow of Robert by his first wife whose name is unknown. Among these children were a John & Robert. 1741 Peter Beaver arrived Philadelphia 1741 Hans, Geo. & Jacob Beaver arrived Philadelphia Beavers in New Jersey Oxford Furnace, N.J., John Beavers is listed for several purchases by the accounts of a storekeeper named Depue, 1743. In "Boston Records of Commissioners Reports" Vol.24,page 252 we find a John Beaver, and his wife, Sarah, in the year 1744. 1750 Jacob Beaver arrived Philadelphia Bethelehem Township, Hunterdon Co.,N.J. 1753. John Beavers has his cattle mark recorded in the Old Book, and transfered to cattle records in 1762 as a "Crop off the near ear." In Snell's History, page 417 A William and a Thomas Beavers are named as citizens of the West Jersey Societies Tract, along with Joseph Beavers in 1757. 1757 Jerm Beaver born Amelia County, Virginia John Beaver and Peter Bever enlisted at Ulster County, N.Y. May 12, 1761, first Regt.,N.Y. Militia, Col Johannes Snyder. 1766 A Mr. Beavers arrived Boston We also find among Revolutionary records, the following Beavers. Cpl. Jon Beavers of Capt.Nathan Alden's Company, Major Eliphymouth County, Mass. Regt.: Mevus Bevers, a private, in Capt. Thomas Cowdins Company, Col Samuel Denny's Regt.,entered service Nov.1,1779, served twenty two days. (Both of these men are recorded in "Soldiers and Sailors of Massachusetts in Revolutionary Wars"] Edward Beaver, private, Lt. Col. Ebenezer Stevens Artillery Regt. (Page 65, New York in the Revolution). Edward Beaver, Albany County Militia, 3rd Regt., Col. Philip P. Schuyler commanding. (page 101, New York in the Revolution,) 1784 Daniel Beaver married Catherine ?? . He served under Capt. William Ross and General Green in Rev. War. Mathis Beaver served under Capt. Peter Burns, Col. Wilkes County; 12 Co. The English Beavers may have entered Ireland, going there from England in the seventeenth century as no earlier dates can be found in Ireland for the Beavers.
