Note: Originally published Monday, August 9, 2004 DAYTON -- George Lewis Clemmer of Dayton, died Saturday (Aug. 7, 2004) at Bridgewater Home in Bridgewater, following a long illness. He was born on Nov. 27, 1918, in Swoope, a son of the late Harry E. and Carrie (Peck) Clemmer. He founded the Dayton Transport Corp.and he founded and led the program in diesel shop at Blue Ridge Community College. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Marguerite (Latham) Clemmer. He is survived by sons, Thomas H., George L. II, and Charles L. Clemmer. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lantz Chapel. Burial will follow in the Dayton Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Lantz Chapel from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday. Johnson Funeral Service, Bridgewater, is in charge of arrangements.
