  Stamford Advocate Obituary, Monday, May 17, 1948:
  Joseph L. Betz of 17 Dale St. died on Sunday, at the Stamford Hospital after a brief illness. Born in New York in 1880, he had been a resident of Stamford for 48 years. He was a retired millwright. He was member of St. Augustine Council, K of C, the Eagles, the Carpenters' Union and St. Mary's Holy Name Society. Mr. Betz is survived by his wife, Mrs. Catherine Glynn Betz of Stamford; three sons, Joseph Betz of New York, J. Raymond Betz and Arthur Betz of Stamford; three daughters, Mrs. Frank Veit, Mrs. Harold Maillard, and Miss Winifred Betz, all of Stamford; two brothers, John and Anthony Betz, both of Keene, N.H., and 11 grandchildren.
  The funeral will be from the Leo P. Gallagher Funeral Home, 20 Suburban Ave., on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. A requiem Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery.
