Pension Application S.30347 dated 7 June 1832 Charles Cooley states on the application he was born Sept. 15, 1755 in Springfield and the birth was recorded in the town records. His father's family removed to Ludlow when he was 14 years old in 1769. Soon after the War he moved to Springfield. In 1797 moved to Wilbraham and remained there for 34 years. In 1831 he moved to Longmeadow to reside with his daughter. His wife was not mentioned so it is assumed she has died between 1830 and 1832; the 1830 census records a woman of that age. Unfortunately no family members are mentioned by name in this application.
Town Records of Ludlow, MA - the name of Charles' wife: John Cooley son of Charles Cooley and Elenor his wife born June 15, 1775
Town Records of Wilbraham, MA Eleanor Cooley, died May 6, 1831, age 76
Analysis of data: Only one child of Charles' is recorded in the Ludlow Town Records. Charles left no will so the inclusion of all other children is based on circumstantial evidence or secondary sources; late 19th / early 20th century compiled genealogies. Based on the 1790 Census, Charles had 3 or 4 sons and 3 daughters.
