a. Note:   Will of Jonathan Lewis
In the name of God, Amen, May 7, 1764. I, Jonathan Lewis, of Richmond County, "being sick but having my usual understanding, all debts and funeral expenses to be paid. "I give an order to my beloved wife, Abigail, a decent maintenance in such manner as my executers may think reasonable." "Also the bed and furniture belonging to it that we lie on." I leave to my two unmarried daughters, Phebe and Mary all the rest of the bedding. All my lands and meadows in Richmond County to be sold by my executors and ½ of the money to be paid to my son Jonathan. All the moveable estate to be sold, and the money and the other half from the sales of the farm, after paying debts, to be divided as follows; to my daughter Phebe 40 (lbs). To my daughters Hannah, wife of Benjamin Brittan 10 (lbs) and to Elizabeth, wife of James LaTourette 25 (lbs). To my two grandchildren Sarah and Anne, daughters of my deceased daughter Sarah, wife of John Scooby and to my daughters, Phebe, Mary and Elizabeth each 1/5 and 1/5 to be put at interest for my daughter Hannah during the life of her husband Benjamin Brittan. I make Joseph Bedel, Silas Bedel and Benjamin Seaman executors. Witnesses, Paul Micheau, John Micheau, Anthony Stoutenbergh. Proved, March 9, 1765.
---------------- From Wayne Bullock: The Jonathan Lewis born 1 May 1688 has many giving his children to a wife Abigail, but she was too late a marriage - 28 Aug 1856 re New Jersey Colonial Documents of marriage licenses. From deed records of Huntington, Suffolk, N.Y. Jonathan has a wife Sarah in 1727, she being a former widow (husband's name not given) From another deed less than a year earlier is a clue to her late husband. I want to persue this in my private research, before making it public. Anyway, back to Abigail, the 2nd wife, she was Abigail Halstead, born about 1696 d/o Timothy Halstead & Abigail Carman. She married 1st an Antoine/Anthony Pintard of French Hugenots. One of her son's Pontius Stille Pintard will dated 25 March 1783, calls her widow of Jonathan Lewis of Staten Island deceased.
