a. Note:   N16 Sarah Ohr was believed by my father to have come from Ohio or Maryland. Another possibility was Iowa or South Dakota which is also mentioned in N.D. census records for Clarence Follett family. The 1860 census records (listing Sarah as 10 when she was actually 8) had incorrectly recorded the Ohr family as surname Marsh and the transcription error was later corrected.
The various census records found support that she was born in Maryland, but that she had also lived as in Illinois and in Iowa before her marriage. She married Charles Follett in 1876 in Woodburn, Iowa. They had their first child in Illinois (Clarence) in 1877 and later moved on to Oriska, Barnes County, ND. Charles later operated a grain elevator in Mapleton, ND.
Sarah died of cancer in 1904. The Follett family bible contains a letter from Sarah to a sister or friend where she discusses travels to see a doctor and also her concerns about being away from Charlie and the boys.

Here is a Bio I prepare in the 1990s after doing some family tree research with family members:
Sarah Ohr Follett is believed to have been born in Maryland on February 14, 1852, pursuant to Riverside Cemetery records. We don't know anything about her original family, except that Dad thought their name may have been spelled "Orr" and he thought they might have come from Ohio or Indiana.
We are uncertain as to where and when Charles and Sarah met and were married, but it was probably sometime prior to her 24th birthday because her first child was born when she was 25 years old just after they came out West in 1877. They probably met somewhere back East because Charles was from upstate New York. (I estimate they may have been married sometime between 1873 and 1876. I plan to check the Presbyterian Church records in Oaks Corners, N.Y. to see if they may have been married there.)
Jan Follett Patman remembers hearing a story about her paternal grandparents Charles and Sarah: that when "Dad Follett" and his bride were going to North Dakota by covered wagon, she was already pregnant (Clarence was born 11/27/1877 in Illinios) and that when she saw her first Indian, she decided to come the rest of the way by train.
Charles and Sarah Follett lived in Oriska, N.D. and later in Mapleton, N.D., where Charles worked managing grain elevators. After Clarence, they did not have another child for nine years. Walter was born on May 4, 1886 in Mapleton, N.D. They had a child Brice Follett the following year in 1887, but unfortunately Brice died September 9, 1888, also at Mapleton. (The cemetery has the cause of death listed as a "summer complaint.") My grandfather was the baby of the family and was born on January 28, 1891 in Mapleton.
Sarah died on November 8, 1904 in Oriska, N.D. at the age of 52 due to cancer. My Grandfather Leland was only 13 years old at the time.
Both Sarah and Charles are buried in a family plot at Riverside Cemetery in Fargo, N.D. __________________________
